The Alabama Dental Society awards scholarships to students each year. Each award ranges from $500 to $1500.00 depending on the amount of money available and the number of applicants. The criteria for the scholarship are:
- Preferences will be given to members of the Student National Dental Association (SNDA)
- Must be a rising Sophomore
- Must be an African-American student who is a legal residence of the state Of Alabama and attending an accredited dental school in the United States of America. The student also must plan on returning to the state of Alabama to set up her or his practice or to teach in the field of dentistry.
- Must be in good academic standing and will be selected based on the consideration of grade point average
- Applicant must type narrative of one or two pages in length stating why the student feels he/she should receive the scholarship.
- Applicant must submit a letter of recommendation from a dental school faculty member
- Applicant must submit an official school transcript.
- Applicant must be morally acceptable.
