Members of the Alabama Dental Society are part of a powerful alliance of general dentists and dental specialists who, as an organization, have the ability to shape the practice of dentistry in Alabama and further impact the heritage of African American dentists in the 21st century.

ADS has a rich history, founded in 1919 as an organization for minority dentists.  This society has represented the hopes and aspirations of the African American dentist in Alabama for more than a century. The membership is made up of dentists throughout the State of Alabama.  ADS soon divided its membership into 4 zones Each Zone representing an area of Alabama making it easier to find associates, associations, and resources close to you and your practice.  The Northern Alabama group comprised Zone 1; The Jefferson County Dental Study Club comprised Zone 2; the Montgomery Dental Society comprised Zone 3 and the Mobile Dental Study Club comprised Zone 4.

We afford our members the opportunity for Continuing Education and Networking. It opens the door to making new friends, the opportunity to build professional relationships, and have fun attending our yearly Dental Convention.  We also offer Leadership opportunities and volunteer opportunities for service on councils and committees.  You can also impact your community by participating in our Outreach and Mentor Programs. Additional benefits are:

• Obtaining CE credits offered during monthly meetings
• Partnering with UAB SNDA for meaningful mentorship with Black Dental Students
• Comraderies among liked-minded colleagues throughout the state
• Yearly Convention with 2 days packed full of new cutting edge products as well as lectures
